Abstract

HIV/AIDS is a sexually transmitted disease that has symptoms, one of which is weight loss of more than 10% of the first body weight. West Bandung Regency in 2019 had 379 cases of HIV-AIDS with 56 new cases. 53% of them were caused by free sexual intercourse behavior. Health education is one of the efforts to improve the knowledge and behavior of adolescents to be healthier and more productive. Health education plays an important role in increasing adolescents' knowledge and attitude towards HIV-AIDS prevention. Health education in this study uses booklet media because it can be learned easily, for the design is made more attractive so that respondents are interested in reading and easily understand the contents of the booklet that has been given. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of health education using booklet media on the level of knowledge of HIV/AIDS in adolescents. The study method uses pre-experimental with a one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample in this study were 79 respondents by sampling using proportional random sampling. Knowledge analysis test using Marginal Homogeneity with the results of the analysis obtained p-value = 0.000 < α = 0.05. It can be concluded that there is an effect of health education using booklet media on the level of knowledge of HIV / AIDS in adolescents. This study can be used as a reference source of information about health education about HIV/AIDS knowledge.
