History of the Journal
Wawacan: Journal of Community Service (WJCS) was established in June 2025 as an academic platform to document and disseminate community service practices grounded in local wisdom and participatory development, particularly in West Java, Indonesia.
The journal emerged from the growing need to bridge community-based practices with scientific knowledge and technological advancement. In many communities across West Java, indigenous knowledge continues to serve as the foundation for addressing issues in education, health, environmental sustainability, economic resilience, and social empowerment.
WJCS was founded to highlight these practices within an academic framework that promotes community empowerment, people-based economy, micro-entrepreneurship, youth and women’s leadership, and collaborative governance in both rural and urban development contexts.
Through interdisciplinary contributions focused on social transformation, innovative strategies, and policy-relevant outcomes, WJCS is committed to connecting academic knowledge with real-world action in support of inclusive and sustainable community development.
