Abstract

This study highlights the urgency of preserving local culture amid globalization and the commercialization of tourism. Saung Angklung Udjo (SAU) exemplifies cultural governance by integrating art, education, and creative economy into sustainable tourism development in West Java. Using a qualitative method and case study approach, this research analyzes collaborative practices among government, local communities, and cultural actors in maintaining Sundanese cultural sustainability. The findings reveal that artistic innovation, digital adaptation, and community empowerment are key factors in SAU’s success. Beyond economic benefits, its governance model strengthens local identity and social cohesion. This research contributes theoretically to the advancement of cultural governance and offers an inclusive, sustainable model for culture-based tourism policy.
